I have joined Team In Training to help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This is my first time participating in an event like this at 60 years old training for a 1/2 marathon run 13.1 miles is a real stretch for me. My goal is that this be a start to more events for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society . Please help me make this effort a success for (LLS) by contributing what you can to this cause. Check with your employer for matching contributions their donations will be very helpful to us.
I’m training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line – a cure!

Dad, Husband overweight and way out of shape. This is a new venture into to becoming more physically active, strong, lean and overall healthier. I began the journey at 58 years old, today I’m over 60 and not close to where I want to be. My blog is for me to record progress and different routines and diets that may work or not work for me.
During my school years I was always active in sports football, basketball & baseball. Never great but sometimes on occasion if the moon was right pretty good . The Marine Corps for 4 years kept me active with continuous training, 3 mile runs and physical fitness tests and yearly qualifications. So what happened, not sure but it took a long time to get from 22 and in great shape to a 58 year old couch potato (e) or no. As our daughters were growing up and very active in sports soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball I stayed less than active as a coach on the sidelines. I think my downfall was at my 40th birthday my father had a massive heart attack which was his second and I stopped doing anything and everything that could be called exercise.
The photos above don’t show the whole story I was in the 240+ range for many years at least 15 years. My fat clothes were the 235 range and didn’t fit, my skinny clothes were the 225 range no way could I get into them. In 2007 I bought clothes that actually fit 42″ waist and gave my skinny clothes 34″ waist to GoodWill. In 2009 I’ve gotten closer with a 37″ waistline working to get back down to 34″.
